Energy austerity kills—end privatisation, RET

Coalition energy policy committee chair Craig Kelly’s statement that “people will die” in winter as a result of renewable energy policies making power unaffordable is a welcome contribution to the energy policy discussion. The vested interests’ enraged denials that Kelly provoked are extra proof he is right. But it is a half-truth: the neoliberal privatisation agenda is equally responsible for making power prices deadly. The reality is also far more serious. Empirical evidence identifies that Australians are already dying as a result of the severe austerity that neoliberalism and radical environmentalism demand. And Kelly fails to outline the murderous intention behind the current energy policy and the eugenicists behind the environmentalist movement who believe in culling the “useless eaters” and reducing the world population.

Howls of protest from the likes of Labor environment spokesman Mark Butler, who demanded Kelly resign, are an effort to suppress any challenge to the shutdown of the Australian economy through neoliberal economic policy and Green Fascism. Both these nominally “right” and “left” wing doctrines have their origins in the ruling City of London/Wall Street financial oligarchy headed by the British Crown. Prince Philip founded the global environmentalist movement through the WWF in 1961, along with fellow oligarch and former Nazi SS officer Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands, and British Eugenics Society President Sir Julian Huxley. Prince Philip also founded the Australian Conservation Foundation (ACF) in 1963, and was its President from 1971 to 1976.

His Royal Highness Prince Philip has repeatedly called to reduce the world population, and has expressed a desire to be reincarnated as a deadly virus to address “overpopulation”. During a 1988 Royal Tour of Australia the Prince castigated scientists at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research in Melbourne for working on a malaria vaccine, which he said would just contribute to the “population explosion” (Diversity and Discovery: The History of the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute 1965-1996, by Sir Gustav Nossal, 2007).

British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, who initiated the neoliberal polices that shut down the bulk of British manufacturing, and destroyed British coal mining jobs, was the first world leader to kick-start the global warming agenda. British Eugenics Society President and WWF co-founder Julian Huxley’s cousin Sir Crispin Tickell (knighted by the Queen in 1983 on the Royal Yacht Britannia), as deputy-undersecretary at the Foreign Office, worked with Thatcher to make global warming a priority issue for the G7 Summit of 1984. With the financial oligarchy’s stamp of approval, Thatcher’s early campaigns initiated the gravy train funding of computer modelling—passed off as research—to confirm “climate change”, which, sadly, has fooled many well-meaning people who want a better planet.

The shutdown of productive industries throughout the Western world through neoliberal economics and Green Fascism has had predictable results. Once prosperous manufacturing cities in the United States are now the dying Rust Belt. In fact, overall US life expectancy is now on the decline. Much of Europe faces a similar fate, shunning coal and nuclear power for wind turbines. Denmark, with the world’s highest national per capita dependence on wind power, has the highest electricity prices of any nation in the world—though if South Australia were a nation, it would have claimed that title this month. It’s no coincidence South Australia’s dependence on expensive, intermittent wind power is on a par with Denmark’s.

Anyone but the most aloof class of people recognise that expensive energy increases poverty, as all major welfare agencies attest. Poverty is the number one killer worldwide, far outranking pollution. Bottom-line, the poorest countries have the lowest life expectancy. Despite China’s actual (not CO2) air pollution—which is significantly higher than Australia’s—its enormous economic growth has lifted nearly a billion people out of poverty, and correspondingly, life expectancy from 68.3 in 1990 to 75.4 years in 2016.

Australia’s privatised electricity grid and expensive “renewables” have already killed untold numbers of people. For example, during the heatwave in late January 2009, Victoria suffered its worst power blackout in history. The Victorian Government’s Department of Human Services estimated 374 excess deaths occurred during the first week of the heatwave. They did not estimate how many deaths occurred as a result of the blackout, but given that around half a million residents in Melbourne were without power for the evening of 30 January 2009, it is evident that many frail people died a horrible death with the air-conditioning cut off.

It is beyond time that privatised power stations and utilities were renationalised, the bipartisan Renewable Energy Target (RET) that Prime Minister John Howard introduced on April Fools’ Day of 2001 were scrapped, and Australia follow the United States in withdrawing from the Paris climate agreement. The Turnbull Government’s current commitment to reducing emissions by 26-28 per cent on 2005 levels by 2030, without emissions-free nuclear power, is economic suicide and should not be tolerated any longer. Coal-fired power will provide affordable and reliable power as we transition to the higher energy-density of nuclear power—the uranium and thorium fuel which Australia has in abundance.
