The mortal threat to Jeremy Corbyn

The following release was issued in the United Kingdom on 3 July 2017:

The Citizens Electoral Council of Australia political party has just issued a 20-page pamphlet entitled Stop MI5/MI6-run Terrorism! In its Letter of Transmittal, CEC National Secretary Craig Isherwood warns that “If Corbyn becomes Prime Minister [of the UK], and carries out the promises to which he has devoted his life, there can be no doubt that the Crown-centred Establishment will attempt to remove him, either by outright assassination, or by the more subtle method of unleashing such unimaginable terrorism as to justify the establishment of a full-blown police state, in which he could not govern.”

Both prospects are clearly evident.

Already during Jeremy Corbyn’s campaign to head the Labour Party, the Times of 20 Sept. 2015 reported that an unnamed “senior serving general” had threatened him with a coup, should he ever come to power: “The Army just wouldn’t stand for it”, the officer was quoted. In May of 2017 Kelvin Mackenzie, columnist and former editor of Rupert Murdoch’s Sun tabloid, publicly announced that the headline he would most like to see was “Jeremy Corbyn knifed by asylum seeker”. Then the Telegraph of 7 June 2017, on the eve of the election, carried a column by former MI6 chief Richard Dearlove headlined “Jeremy Corbyn is a danger to this nation”, which denounced the Labour leader as “an old-fashioned international socialist” who “wouldn’t clear the security vetting” at MI6. Amid such demonisation of Corbyn, there also came the ominous report from a security source (Mail on Sunday, 28 May), that the American Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had alerted MI5 in January 2017 to Manchester Arena bomber Salman Abedi’s membership in a gang “that was plotting an attack in the UK”, and that “It was thought at the time that Abedi was planning to assassinate a political figure.”

Viewing these threats in their domestic and strategic contexts makes it possible to appreciate their full weight.

MI5 and MI6 run terrorism

Through detailed analysis of the 22 March Westminster, 22 May Manchester Arena, and 3 June London Bridge terror attacks and the political processes leading up to them, the CEC pamphlet establishes the following:

1. That all major terror attacks in the UK beginning with the 7/7 2005 London subway bombings, have been coordinated by “Islamic terrorists” operating under the direct supervision and control of MI5 and MI6.

2. That “Islamic terrorism” in the UK is largely the outgrowth of Prince Charles’s personal sponsorship since the 1980s of the growth in Britain of the murderous Islamic sect known as Wahhabism—the state religion of Saudi Arabia—which demands the slaughter of all “non-believers”, be they Christians, Jews, non-Wahhabite Muslims whether Sunni or Shiite, or merely inhabitants of the “degenerate West”. Wahhabism has nothing to do with the vast majority of adherents of the Islamic faith in the UK, except to victimise them, as well.

3. That over the last several decades, Charles has personally negotiated multiple phases of the UK-Saudi arms deal known as al-Yamamah, the single biggest one in history, funds from which were used to launch al-Qaeda in the first place, and to finance the 9/11 hijackers.

4. That the spread of Wahhabism in Britain has been protected by MI5 and MI6 under its “covenant of security” with terrorist groups, and that Charles, the Patron of GCHQ, MI5, and MI6, has personally intervened to stop Scotland Yard and other police investigations of this terrorist infrastructure, while virtually every board member of his Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies has been a propagandist, financier, or organiser of terrorism internationally, including several involved with 9/11.

5. That all of this mayhem is no mere “blowback” from British government support of terrorists to overthrow Saddam Hussein, Muammar Qaddafi, Bashar Assad, etc., but includes the intent to establish a fascist police state in Britain itself, which already boasts the most draconian “anti-terror” laws in the world. And as is now evident in the 19 June “right-wing” attack on the Finsbury Park mosque, this will include the use of the “gang-countergang” tactics developed by British imperialists in their colonial counterinsurgency campaigns in Malaya, Kenya, Cyprus and elsewhere after World War II, notoriously perfected by Brigadier General Frank Kitson. They were brought home to the UK itself when troops under Kitson’s personal command massacred peaceful protesters in Northern Ireland on 30 January 1972, Bloody Sunday, exploding sectarian, “divide-and-conquer” warfare in which Britain’s Army and Intelligence services ran agents on both sides to fan the flames. In acknowledgement of his efforts, Queen Elizabeth inducted Kitson into her ultra-elite Order of the Bath; promoted him to commander-in-chief, UK Land Forces in 1982; and in 1983 appointed him her aide-de-camp general. Like MI5 and MI6, the British military ultimately reports to the Crown.

The Crown has already removed heads of state, or the equivalent, who pose a threat. Outstanding cases are those of Australian Prime Minister Gough Whitlam, whose 1975 sacking was supervised personally by Queen Elizabeth II with the assistance of Prince Charles, and British PM Harold Wilson, who resigned abruptly in 1976 after charging that the Crown, in the person of Lord Mountbatten and the intelligence services, was out to overthrow him. The issue in each case was their daring to confront the institutions, as Corbyn does today: Whitlam wanted to “buy back the farm”, reclaiming Australia’s resources from the Crown-tied raw materials cartel, while Wilson had presented the Bank of England with plans to launch a manufacturing-led renaissance “with finance the handmaiden and not the controller of our economic development”.

And then there was Diana, Princess of Wales, the beloved “People’s Princess”. At the time of her death from a car crash in Paris 20 years ago this summer, she was not only conducting a high-profile campaign against land mines, but had compiled a thick file on Britain’s arms trade overall, and the roles of MI5 and MI6 therein. The late Australian forensic accountant John Morgan, whose research findings filled ten published volumes, concluded that Diana’s challenge to the arms industry, as well as to the Royal family in her personal life and the humane way she would bring up her sons, implicated both the Crown itself and MI6 in her “unlawful killing”—the verdict delivered by an inquest jury in 2010, after years of attempts by the Crown to limit the investigation of the deaths of Diana and Dodi Fayed to an inquest by a Coroner of the Queen’s Household, without a jury. Did the Crown deploy its vast resources, including MI5, MI6, and GCHQ, to find out who committed the killing? To the contrary, Morgan documents, every effort was made to keep members of the Royal family and MI6 personnel, even individuals proven to have been in Paris when Diana died, from being called to testify. Nor did the jury hear about the note Diana wrote to her butler stating “My husband is planning ‘an accident’ in my car. Brake failure and serious head injury…”, while a film by director Keith Allen titled Unlawful Killing, has been virtually suppressed since it first aired at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2011, though it has intermittently appeared on the Internet, as at present. The strategic setting

A 25 June Telegraph article headlined “Next global crisis to hit with a ‘vengeance’, warns BIS”, reports that the Bank for International Settlements—the “central bank of the world’s central banks”—has warned, yet again, that a far worse global crash than that of 2008 could erupt at any time. Though the BIS would never admit it, that reality is ensured by the currently reigning City of London/Wall Street policies of brutal austerity, globalisation, privatisation, and unbridled speculation. The issue then becomes: will the London/Wall Street megabanks be bailed out yet again, and on a far greater scale than before, with ensuing misery that dwarfs even that of the past decade? Jeremy Corbyn is committed to breaking up the megabanks through a separation of speculative investment banks from normal commercial banks servicing the real economy, as US President Franklin Roosevelt did in 1933 with his Glass-Steagall legislation, which protected the US economy from any major bank crises until its repeal in 1999. Termed “firm ring-fencing” in the Corbyn Labour manifesto, this policy terrifies the Establishment, especially since a Glass-Steagall-style amendment only missed passing Parliament in 2013 by 9 votes in the House of Lords and 49 in the Commons. Glass-Steagall, together with Corbyn’s related policies of renationalising vital national infrastructure, rebuilding the destroyed National Health Service, establishing a National Investment Bank, and his inclusive social policies for the youth, the aged, and all in between, would effect a more radical shift in Britain’s policies than even that of the Attlee Labour government of 1945-51, which founded the NHS and nationalised the Bank of England. Attlee also resisted the plans of Winston Churchill and others to launch the Cold War or even a nuclear first strike against the Soviet Union, just as a desperate Anglo-American establishment of today drives towards a showdown with Russia and China, to conquer and loot them before its own power evaporates along with its megabanks—a policy which Corbyn has rejected in favor of cooperation wherever possible. And there is enormous room for such cooperation. Though generally blacked out or misreported in the same Anglo-American mass media that vilifies Corbyn, China has lifted 700 million of its citizens out of poverty over the last three decades and intends to eradicate poverty by 2020, even as it has built 20,000 km of high-speed trains within China; embarked on the world’s most advanced space program; and launched the greatest infrastructure project in world history through its One Belt, One Road (OBOR) project in which 100 nations are now participating. Central to this success was China’s adoption of its own Glass-Steagall legislation in 1993, while the $US20 trillion which China has invested in its OBOR and related projects since 2008 is the main reason a new global financial crisis has not already exploded.

The way out

In his campaign slogan “For the many, not the few”, Jeremy Corbyn has repeatedly invoked the spirit of the poet Percy Shelley, who penned his immortal poem “The Mask of Anarchy” following the Establishment-directed Peterloo massacre of peaceful demonstrators in Manchester in 1819. Shelley named the Crown and its City allies, which he termed the financial “new aristocracy”, as the Malthusian oppressors of the British people, and proposed specific measures to curtail their murderous power. If you want to keep this extraordinary human being Jeremy Corbyn alive, so that he can fulfill his lifelong mission to secure a just and prosperous United Kingdom now and for generations to come, then you must act. Relentlessly pressure your MP to pass Glass-Steagall legislation, sign the petition for Glass-Steagall, and organise for it in all other avenues available to you. And order the Stop MI5/MI6-run Terrorism! pamphlet, study it, circulate it everywhere, and demand that Prince Charles be brought to account for his role in orchestrating terrorism in the UK.
