Call US embassy to demand Barack Obama not block the justice for terrorism law!

The Citizens Electoral Council is calling on all Australians to add their voice to the international chorus demanding US President Barack Obama drop his threat to veto the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act (JASTA).

The website for the campaign to pass JASTA—passjasta.org—states:

The Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act – ‘JASTA’ is a bill passed unanimously by both chambers of Congress that will prevent international terrorism and guarantee Americans their rights to go to federal court and hold foreign states accountable for funding and supporting terrorist acts on US soil. This legislation has the full support of the 9,000 family members and survivors of the September 11 Attacks who are now seeking truth, accountability, and justice against all who supported and perpetrated that murderous attack 15 years ago. JASTA passed the Senate unanimously on May 17, 2016 and passed the US House of Representatives unanimously on September 9, 2016.”

As soon as JASTA passed, Barack Obama announced his intention to veto the bill. The only reason he would do so is to continue the US government’s 15 year protection of the funding apparatus behind international terrorism—the Saudi royal family and their British partners in the al-Yamamah oil-for-arms deal—which is laid bare in the 28 pages of the 2002 Congressional Joint Inquiry Report on 9/11 that Obama was finally forced to declassify in July.

The 9/11 Families and Survivors United for Justice Against Terrorism have called a protest rally for 20 September outside of the White House, to oppose Obama’s veto and demand Congress override it with a two-thirds majority.

Their suspicion is that Obama will avoid publicity for his veto, and make it difficult for Congress to override it with a large majority, by sending it back to Congress at the close of business this Friday, just as Congressmen are returning to their districts to campaign in this year’s election. Unless the Congress stays in session long enough to re-vote on JASTA, there won’t be a chance to override the veto until after the presidential election in November.

We are involved!

JASTA is an issue for the entire world, not just the USA. Not only did 10 Australians, and hundreds from other countries, die on 9/11, but the cover-up of the Saudis’ role allowed their friends in the Bush-Cheney administration and Britain’s Blair government to get away with insinuating Saddam Hussein was connected to 9/11. This became one of the pretexts for the Iraq War which has turned the Middle East into a hellscape and unleashed the horror of ISIS on the world. Obama himself joined forces with the same discredited, criminal neocon elements in the USA and UK to repeat the disaster of Iraq in Libya and now Syria, where Australia’s blind support for the US-UK regime change agenda has just resulted in Australians participating in the killing of more than 60 Syrian army troops who were defending a city of 300,000 people from ISIS monsters.

What you can do: Call the US Embassy

To support the 9/11 families’ campaign to pass JASTA, call the US Embassy in Canberra this week, on (02) 6214 5600 and ask for the political section.

Deliver the message: “Tell President Obama that I and many other Australians demand he sign, not veto, the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act.”
