ABC Country Hour fears airing CEC’s agriculture solutions

Today, the ABC’s Country Hour deliberately denied airtime for Citizens Electoral Council State Secretary and Agriculture spokeswoman Jean Robinson, to present the CEC’s detailed policies to save and develop Australian agriculture.

Country Hour made the decision to shut out the CEC, based on their criteria that “we did not have anything newsworthy to say.”

Mrs Robinson said, “As a primary producer, I am outraged, that the ABC has censored the CEC in this election, by denying me the opportunity to elaborate real policies for Western Australian agriculture. This is typical of the lying media and the sort of ignorance that most journalists have about the real issues that family farmers are facing.”

Mrs Robinson said that voters in tomorrow’s Western Australian State Election, need to be very clear: “The real political issue is that the so-called ‘major’ political parties (the odd decent individual aside), the ALP, the Liberals and the Nationals (along with the Greens) are mere fronts and enforcers for the British-centred cartels, which through free trade, have and will continue to wipe out independent family farmers in this state, so that these cartels can take over everything through corporate agriculture.”

All other issues are simply the window-dressing for a continuing disaster in family farming.

Mrs Robinson said that over the last several weeks, at least 125,000 WA electors have received copies of the CEC’s New Citizen newspaper, which details policies that strive to protect the family farmer and producer, and shut down the cartels.

These policies include:

  • Enacting an immediate moratorium on all farm foreclosures, as provided for in the CEC’s Homeowners and Bank Protection Bill;
  • slashing fuel costs by nationalising our oil and gas, and other minerals;
  • the immediate regulation of fertilizer and other production costs, to protect farmers from the hyperinflating fertilizer and agricultural production costs;
  • guaranteed minimum floor prices for all crops;
  • tariff protection to keep what little industry we have left; and
  • a national fertilizer industry to secure cheap fertilizers for all farmers.

For 20 years, the Citizens Electoral Council, a Western Australian and federally registered political party, has been campaigning against the shutdown of family farmers, and the destruction of agriculture. Over the many years, we have had more to say about saving family farmers than all the political parties combined.

Mrs Robinson said that with our track record, one has to ask the question, “Why is the Citizens Electoral Council, a registered political party, being censored by the ABC?”
