Bureau of Meteorology removes rainfall from books
In the last two years 904.14 mm of rainfall have been removed from the rainfall record of the Murray-Darling Basin. Researchers from the CEC obtained rainfall data from the Bureau of Meteorology website in 2008 to produce the historical rainfall chart below. Now the data has been statistically adjusted back for the whole of the last century, making the last 60 years appear drier than previously reported. During the early years of last century, rainfall data was adjusted, identifying an increased rainfall and for more recent years, data was adjusted, identifying a decreased rainfall. Overall, 904.14 mm was written off the books!
