Schellnhuber's Bertrand Russell Moment
May 13, 2011 • 11:44AM

At the March 2009 Copenhagen Climate Conference, Hans Joachim "John" Schellnhuber, the author of the WBGU Master Plan for denying nuclear and carbon based energy supplies for humanity, made a startling threat, asserting that if his plan was not implemented, to prevent a 9-degree-Fahrenheit rise in temperature, his computer models had thoroughly proven that the carrying capacity of Earth could sustain a population of only 1 billion. Schellnhuber's solution, a Global Green Dictatorship, echos the brutal logic his much admired Bertrand Russell expressed in his infamous, October, 1946 Bulletin of Atomic Scientists article call for preparing for nuclear war against the Soviet Union if it did not accept world government. Only weeks after his threat, after meeting with Prince Charles at his Potsdam Institute in April, 2009, Schellnhuber opened the Nobel Laureate Symposium on Global Sustainability, hosted by HRH Prince of Wales, Prince Charles, at his St. James Palace in late May.

Schellnhuber's Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) press release on the beginning of Prince Charles's London event, chose to quote the PIK head proudly proclaiming that he saw his work in the tradition of Bertrand Russell's work dealing with the then arms race. Russell's work led to the founding of the Pugwash Conferences which locked the United States and the Soviet Union into a deadly game of what became known as Mutual Assured Destruction, MAD. Only nuclear terror, psychological fear of, and submission to, nuclear war, could guarantee peace.

The earlier version of this Bertrand Russell "peace strategy" had been made clear in that infamous Bulletin of Atomic Scientists 1946 article. Russell was such a devotee of Britain's imperial mandate, in the tradition of Imperial Rome, that after WWII he repeatedly proposed preventive nuclear war to force the Soviet Union to submit to world government. In the BAS article, Russell stated, "If Russia acquiesced willingly, all would be well. If not, it would be necessary to bring pressure to bear, even to the extent of risking war...." And of course, as is clear in the whole cynical, brutal logic of his article, he meant preemptive nuclear war against the USSR, as the U.S. still had the monopoly on nuclear bombs.

There was no contradiction between Russell's 1955 call, admired by Schellnhuber, and his chilling 1946 outline on preparations for nuclear war to create world government: "If the atomic bomb shocks nations into acquiesence in a system making great wars impossible, it will have been one of the greatest boons ever conferred by science." The title of Schellnhuber's March 2009 Copenhagen speech was MAD. Although it was explained that this stood for, Mitigation + Adaption + Development, his intent was a clear appeal to the terror of Russell's Pugwash MAD, and he even opened his speech with a discussion of the statistical probabilities of getting killed in Russian Roulette!

Like imperial war-monger Bertrand Russell, Schellnhuber wants to terrorize humanity to impose imperial suppression of the energy technologies needed for human progress. [RMO—to read the Russell article, go the books.google.com and search, "atomic bomb and the prevention of war" Russell 1946. It is usually the third hit.]

It's no coincidence that Schellnhuber's alter-ego, Obama "Science" Advisor John Holdren, also identifies closely with the Russell tradition. Appropriately, he has a long history of involvement with the Pugwash Conferences on Science and World Affairs, the world-government brainchild of genocidalist Russell. As chairman of the Pugwash Executive Committee, Holdren actually received a Nobel Prize on its behalf in 1995.
