Benghazi evidence mounts to impeach Obama on ties to al-Qaeda

The revelations that continue to emerge from the clearing smoke of the 11 September 2012 terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya add to a mounting pile of evidence that U.S. President Barack Obama and his British and French cohorts armed and supported the very al-Qaeda-linked terrorists who killed U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other diplomatic personnel in that attack.

Obama’s clandestine alliance with the al-Qaeda terrorist network is grounds for the U.S. Congress to initiate impeachment proceedings against him.

Australians should be concerned that our nation’s closest allies are so entwined with the same al-Qaeda terrorists against whom 39 Australian soldiers have died while fighting in Afghanistan; furthermore, Australians should demand to know if Australian special forces have been secretly deployed directly in league with the neo-Salafist and jihadist groups tied to al-Qaeda in Libya or Syria, as British special forces have been.

Following are some of the latest revelations pertaining to the Benghazi attack:

  • Retired U.S. Admiral James A. Lyons wrote in the 12 January Washington Times that various reports indicate that Ambassador Stevens was in Benghazi that day, even though he feared for his safety, to “facilitate the transfer of military equipment to jihadists and other Muslim Brotherhood and al Qaeda-affiliated groups fighting the Bashar Assad regime in Syria, which also fought our forces in Iraq”. Admiral Lyons demanded the Administration come clean on whether this was true, and cease its cover-up of the incident.
  • Three of the military brigades operating in the Benghazi area—Ansar al-Sharia, Libya Shield, and the February 17 Brigade—which participated in the Benghazi attack, were the chief American combat allies in the earlier drive to overthrow Qaddafi. All have close connections to al-Qaeda and include prominent members previously considered enemies of the United States.
  • Ansar al-Sharia which claimed credit for the Benghazi attack, is led by Abu Sufian bin Qumu, who was a previous Guantanamo Bay detainee. He had received a monthly stipend from one of the financiers of the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon in 2001. While in Guantanamo he was assessed to be a high risk to US interests. His original training was in Bin Laden’s Afghanistan camp. He was part of the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG) which was approached in 1995 by Britain’s MI6 to carry out a coup against Qaddafi. (One of the most important figures in Obama’s campaign against Qaddafi was Abdel Hakim Belhadj, the creator of the LIFG, who fought with al-Qaeda and the Taliban in Afghanistan through the late 80s and early 90s. Belhadj was in Tora Bora with bin Laden in 2001. In March 2010 former British PM Tony Blair intervened to encourage the release of Belhadj and 233 other members of the LIFG from Abu Selim prison in Tripoli as part of a reconciliation between Libya and the West. Less than a year later, Belhadj and the other members of the LIFG became the core of the opposition to Qaddafi. Belhadj received weapons from Qatar, in a transaction approved by Obama.)
  • The Libya Shield militia was entrusted with security for the U.S. mission in Benghazi, and a 9 September meeting they had with the embassy likely provided them with the travel plans of Ambassador Stevens, who arrived in Benghazi 10 September for ten days. It was Libya Shield, led by Wisam bin Hamid which detained U.S. Marines sent from Tripoli for three hours at the Benghazi airport before following them to the CIA annex. The attack on the annex commenced shortly after their arrival. Wisam bin Hamid is identified by a U.S. Library of Congress report as possibly the head of al-Qaeda in Libya.
  • The February 17 Brigade also provided security for the U.S. mission in Benghazi. It was founded by a known member of al-Qaeda and the LIFG, Ismail Sallabi. The Brigade may have been behind the July 2011 assassination of the military commander of the Tripoli Military Council, which allowed Belhadj to move in as the new military commander. According to the U.S. State Department Accountability Review Board (ARB), the Brigade guards at the mission failed to notify the Brigade barracks of the 11 September 2012 attack. According to the Senate Homeland Security Committee, the Brigade also failed to respond to two calls for assistance from the CIA annex.

The main question for Obama—and the governments of his allies, including Australia—is why did his administration work with the al-Qaeda terrorist network, to overthrow and kill Qaddafi, and why does it continue to ally with al-Qaeda to overthrow Syria’s President Assad? Even Australia’s present Foreign Minister Bob Carr, when he was a private citizen in his 20 May 2011 blog denounced the “humanitarian intervention” into Libya as “towering stupidity” and the excuse of protecting civilians as “rubbish”. But now, as Foreign Minister, Carr is a leading advocate for toppling Assad in Syria, in league with the same al-Qaeda terrorists that toppled Qaddafi. Does Carr’s personal about-face have anything to do with the extent of Australia’s own involvement?
