For the past several months Lakesha Rogers, a 29-year old leader of the
LaRouche Youth Movement (LYM) has been campaigning for the chairmanship of the
Texas State Democratic Party. The voting was held on Saturday night, June 10,
and, although Ms. Rogers did not win, she did receive a significant vote in the
four-way race, while her campaign stirred up enormous excitement in the
Democratic Party. She provoked an "insurgency" of angry Democrats who want to
see their party dump globalisation and free trade and return to the great
infrastructure projects and policies of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt,
which insurgency forced an unexpected run-off in the chairman's race on June 10.
Lakesha was given six minutes to address the 3000 delegates, and was
introduced by three other LaRouche Democrats (two of them LYM members), who
spoke for two minutes each. The 10 minutes of speeches by LaRouche Democrats
provide a stirring example of the revolution now under way in the U.S.
Democratic Party, led by economist and statesman LaRouche.
