Detroit Leader Lamar Lemmons III in Washington, D.C. To Fight for Glass-Steagall
July 25, 2013 • 10:16AM

LaMar Lemmons III, president of the Detroit School Board, and commissioner of the Detroit Public Library, is in Washington, D.C., urging support for HR 129 and S 1282 and S985, regarding reinstatement of Glass Steagall. Mr. Lemmons is making the point to lawmakers that the repeal of Glass-Steagall led to the Detroit bankruptcy filing.

Mr. Lemmons addressed the Congressional Black Caucus luncheon, urging them to support and co-sign HR 129. He said that any bailout must go to Detroit, and not Wall Street.

Mr. Lemmons is also opposing the Michigan emergency management law, urging reinstatement of democracy for Detroit. Detroit is now subject to taxation, without representation.

He was joined by members of LaRouche PAC, who helped guide him through the morass of the U.S. Congress.
