Ward Links Glass-Steagall Fight to Detroit Bankruptcy
July 23, 2013 • 10:05AM

Quoting Lyndon LaRouche, Examiner journalist Kenric Ward linked the fight for Glass-Steagall to the bankruptcy of Detroit in a July 21 article. Discounting those who are blaming the victims, Ward raises Judge Aquilina's ruling, quoting EIR to the effect that there are no "local" solutions, only national ones, ending his article with the following:

"Lyndon LaRouche, head of LaRouchePAC, and a prime proponent of reinstating Glass-Steagall safeguards, said Detroits unraveling could have been averted through commonsense, constitutional banking laws. What's happening in Detroit is the action of (our enemy)," he declared. "We simply have to bankrupt these bastards."

"Once that's done, then the United States government takes over its responsibilities under the Constitution, for the situation that now exists. Glass-Steagall becomes the pretext for the action."

"Just enforce Glass-Steagall, and that will give us the means to solve the problem, LaRouche said, harking back to Franklin Roosevelts economic recovery program that culminated in the enactment of the 1933 banking law."

As LaRouche activists launch their second week of mobilizing support for Glass-Steagall on Capitol Hill, the former presidential candidate said, The people of the United States have to mobilize, to make sure that the law is enforced.

It's the only chance to save the life of your neighbors and your family, he said."

Ward's article is headed by a video, which features Joe Biden saying "we don't know, at this point" whether the administration can help Detroit. However, considering how much Obama has already "helped" the city, perhaps they would prefer to see him impeached, than ask for his help. Compare this to Obama's campaign declaration during a Weekly Address on October 13, 2012, that Detroit had been saved. Obama lied that, “We refused to let Detroit go bankrupt, I bet on American workers, and American ingenuity and three years later that bet is paying off in a big way.”
