Mass(.) Strike Ending the Flight of the Obama "Albatross"

January 19, 2010 (LPAC)—After once trailing by more than 30 points in the Massachusetts special election, GOP Senate candidate Scott Brown is riding the mass strike opposition to Obama's fascist agenda, and is said to be leading Democrat Martha Coakley by at least five points (Public Policy Poll). Politico reports that their Insider Advantage poll taken yesterday has Brown up by 9%, and another poll (Suffolk University Political Research Center) has him ahead by double digits, going into Tuesday's race for "Ted Kennedy's seat."

The two candidates' campaigns and 11 supporting organizations are spending close to $10 million in the final days, mainly on television ads. For Coakley—whose candidacy has been heavily patronized by HMOs and other financial vultures—the organizations include the Soros-allied Service Employees International Union and the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee. For Brown, the Chamber of Commerce and a Tea Party-affiliated group.

The patrician Coakley is displaying her political acumen by having her final ad blitz lead with Obama TV ads, Obama web videos, and Obama-taped automated phone calls, according to the Associated Press—when what the population of Massachusetts is most enraged about is Obama and his policies! Coakley said today, "I think people listen to (Obama), they respect him, they like him, when they stop to think, they realize that he is working to solve the problems that he inherited."

Coakley had been slated to inherit the "Kennedy seat" without even paying estate taxes. But Brown has astutely made the point that it's "the peoples' seat," not a fiefdom. "It's mind-numbing that someone would think that there was some kind of entitlement or legacy that needs to be passed on," a Massachusetts teacher told the Washington Post.

But more than her lackluster campaign, and resentment of the Kennedys' divine right, it is the mass strike that is making it likely that Coakley will lose. As a U.S. News †World Report blogger put it, "The Massachusetts Senate race demonstrates the political albatross the Obama agenda has become, especially with independents and disillusioned Obama voters."

"If Scott Brown wins," Rep. Bailout Barney Frank told the Associated Press, "it'll kill the health bill." Nonetheless, the regime has a number of Plan B's, to try to ram it through. (See separate article: http://larouchepac.com/node/13181)

Polls show that Independents, who make up 51% of the state's electorate, have responded enthusiastically to Brown. His campaign is targeting them as well as Republicans, who are outnumbered by Democrats 3-to-1 in the Bay State. But as the polls are showing in this period of mass strike, formal party affiliation means less and less.
