US Media Covers LaRouche

Aug. 14, 2009 (LPAC)—Reversing decades of national news media policy first enunciated in the editorial pages of the Washington Post in the mid-1970s, to provide no news coverage of the actual ideas and activities of Lyndon LaRouche and his movement, the U.S. news media today began to give straight (if limited) coverage of LaRouchePAC's fight against the Obama health care policy. As previously reported, the Washington Times quoted LaRouche movement leader Nancy Spannaus on Thursday on not only the criticism of Obama's Nazi plan, but also LaRouche's alternative proposals. In addition, the Philadelphia Inquirer, reporting on a town hall meeting held by Rep. Joe Sestak (D-Pa.), reported that Pat Noble was manning the LaRouchePAC table with handouts depicting Obama with a Hitler-style moustache. The article on the Inquirer's website includes nine photos, including two of Maria Milton confronting Sestak with a sign featuring the Obama-moustache picture and the words, "Obama's Health Plan: Drop Dead!" (It is reported that at least one of those photos was included in today's print edition.) A short item appeared today on the website of the liberal-intellectual magazine Atlantic Monthly, on the health care protests' organizing of the independents, which says they are not in fact contrivances of the national Republican Party, but a mix, among which the writer includes "Lyndon LaRouche supporters (who patented the Obama-is-Nazi theme)." And an item on the website of the sometime liberal, sometime neo-con The New Republic explains in detail that it is LaRouche who is behind that "Obama as Hitler" sign.

Meanwhile right-wing writers on the "blogosphere," who jumped on the Republicans' initiative to attack the health policy's euthanasia provisions, have found themselves admitting that LaRouche is the source of that analysis — as all the "moustache" posters (some bloggers admit) in fact proclaim. Emblematic is the right-wing gasbag, Rush Limbaugh, who protested on his show today, that, contrary to Obama and the evil liberals' attacks on him, he was not calling Obama a Hitler, but that the LaRouchies were doing so.
