Baucus Pulls His Bill Back, in New Setback for Obama's Nazi Healthcare Campaign

June 17, 2009 (LPAC)—In a move which throws off President Obama's British-demanded timetable for ramming his Nazi healthcare "reforms" through Congress, the head of the Senate Finance Committee, Sen. Max Baucus (D-MT), today said that the committee will go back to the drawing boards to redraft the bill which he had planned to introduce today. Baucus said he is now not even sure that the bill can be marked up before the July 4 recess, more than two weeks away.

Baucus's retreat followed reports that the Congressional Budget Office has estimated the cost of his bill at $1.6 trillion over ten years; Baucus indicated today that he will try to get the cost down to $1 trillion, which he claims will be paid for by tax increases, spending cuts, and other measures.

The Wall Street Journal reported this afternoon that the delay in the Senate Finance Committee could throw off the Democratic leadership's timetable for getting a bill to Obama to sign by October.

Although the nominal issue behind the Baucus delay is to find another $600 billion to slash, the fact is that LPAC has begun to cause a national uproar over the Nazi content of the entire Obama plan. And the longer it is delayed, the greater the uproar across the country. Time is not on their side in the current dynamic.

Another fly in the ointment is that the bill being developed by committee chairmen Rangel, Miller and Waxman in the House would increase Medicare payments to physicians, rather than carry out the current law's provision for a 21% cut in fees in 2010. The House bill would provide for increases in the volume of services, particularly primary care and preventive services.   The Capitol Hill newspaper The Hill took note of the growing disarry around health legislation in an article entitled "Dems Reel On Healthcare," which reported that the unity that Democrats touted earlier this year, has now "cracked."

Meanwhile, the Washington Post further confirmed that Nazi-type cuts in health care will be required by Obama's plan, when it reported this morning that Obama's plan "is likely to dig the nation deeper into debt unless policymakers adopt politically painful controls on spending, such as sharp reductions in payments to doctors, hospitals and other providers." The Post notes that in recent days, Obama has embraced cost-cutting measures such as reducing Medicare payments to hospitals, and creating an outside body (MedPac) to slash payments to providers if they won't cut costs on their own.
