Turnbull’s Home Affairs brings British terror collusion to Australia

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has seized on the latest “foiled” terrorist plot to justify his decision to combine all security agencies into one super-ministry modelled on the British Home Office. The chaos that gripped Australia’s airports on Monday—and which is expected to continue—followed the well-publicised terror raids on two Sydney families accused of planning to take down a plane, reportedly based on a tip-off from Britain’s MI5. However, Turnbull’s claim that his new Home Affairs mega-department is intended to boost Australia’s efforts to combat terrorism is an obvious fraud—the UK Home Office, which includes MI5, is infamous for decades of collusion with terrorists, including those who have perpetrated recent deadly attacks on the UK.

Anyone familiar with the operations of the Home Office and MI5 in relation to terrorism should view Turnbull’s plans with alarm. Along with the US-based Executive Intelligence Review magazine and the Citizens Electoral Council’s Australian Alert Service magazine, numerous British analysts and investigative reporters have exhaustively documented MI5’s collusion with terrorism, including: Mark Curtis in Secret Affairs: Britain’s Collusion with radical Islam; Alex Stewart and Mark Hollingsworth in Saudi Babylon: Torture, Corruption and Cover-Up Inside the House of Saud; Sean O’Neil and Daniel McGrory in The Suicide Factory: Abu Hamza and the Finsbury Park Mosque; Dan Glazebrook in his RT.com series British collusion with sectarian violence; and others. They expose Britain’s long history of complicity in both international and domestic terrorism, through its sponsorship, arming and protection of the totalitarian Gulf kingdoms such as Saudi Arabia and Qatar that are the main incubators and backers of the Sunni Wahhabi terrorism of al-Qaeda and ISIS; through Britain’s decades of harbouring the world’s worst terrorists in London—dubbed “Londonistan”—under a so-called “covenant of security” between the terrorist groups and MI5 that gave terrorists the green light to operate in the UK and plan international attacks; and through MI5’s active recruitment of home-grown terrorists to deploy to Libya and Syria to fight with al-Qaeda and ISIS against the governments that Britain had targeted for regime change.

The latest example of this blatant collusion with terrorism is Home Secretary Amber Rudd’s 12 July decision to suppress a Home Office report on who is funding the spread of Islamist extremism in the UK which is leading to terrorist attacks, reportedly because it focuses on Saudi Arabia. This was especially arrogant of Rudd and her boss Theresa May, the former Home Secretary, demonstrating the British Establishment’s lack of accountability and determination to protect its dirty dealings, which involve not just the Saudis, but Britain’s biggest arms manufacturer BAE Systems, Britain’s biggest bank HSBC, and the British royal family, namely Prince Charles. Australia’s future king negotiates BAE’s arms deals with the Saudis; is close friends with Saudi princes Bandar bin Sultan and Turki bin Faisal, who are known funders of al-Qaeda and the 9/11 terrorist attack; is the active patron of the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies (OCIS) that includes on its board Bandar and Turki alongside a who’s who of terrorism funders and advocates; and has personally facilitated the funding of British mosques by Saudi royals.

With Britain’s record, one thing’s for sure: Turnbull’s reason for importing the British Home Office model is, emphatically, not counterterrorism!

Australia’s MI5

Australia already has a shadowy, MI5-style police-state surveillance agency, ASIO (Australian Security Intelligence Organisation). ASIO was established in 1949 at the insistence of MI5, as effectively an Australian branch of the Anglo-American global surveillance apparatus now known as “Five Eyes” that Britain set up to leverage its influence over the United States after World War II.

ASIO whistleblower Mamdouh Habib, one of the two Australians who were held in detention without charge at Guantanamo Bay, has accused ASIO of counterterrorism practices in Australia that are a carbon copy of MI5’s actions in the UK. Habib is a credible witness, having proved his allegation that in 2001 ASIO had rendered him to Egypt for torture, at which an ASIO officer had been present. ASIO reached a confidential settlement with Habib, and an ASIO officer acknowledged to him in 2011, “You have every right to be mad and angry at this country.”

Habib charges that there are many ASIO agents or informants within the Sydney Muslim community suggesting provocative actions, running sting operations, and putting pressure on people. And if you don’t go along with them they can get very nasty. “The top-down agenda,”, Habib has charged, is that ASIO are constantly provoking the Muslim community into a rage, to trigger events which they can then react to. He also accuses ASIO of working through agents to recruit the 200 or so young Muslims who travelled to Syria to join ISIS and al-Qaeda, just as known MI5 agents recruited the roughly 800 British jihadists who went to fight in Syria. Habib’s most disturbing accusation is that ASIO orchestrated Sydney’s December 2014 Lindt Cafe terrorist siege, by manipulating gunman Man Haron Monis, whose involvement with ASIO over 15 years was so extensive that the agency admitted its file on Monis was “hundreds of thousands” of pages thick.

Although ASIO is effectively a branch of MI5, Australia to date has been the only member of the Five Eyes alliance—USA, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand—that has not had an all-encompassing domestic “security” department. ASIO operates under the Attorney-General; the Australian Federal Police (AFP) under the Justice minister; and Border Force under the immigration department. Turnbull’s Home Affairs department will empower ASIO to more directly influence other areas of law enforcement.

This is yet another consolidation of power by the Five Eyes apparatus and the Establishment it serves—comprising the Crown and City of London/Wall Street financial oligarchy, the arms industry, and the global resources cartel. With the once-dominant trans-Atlantic financial system imploding, the Anglo-American elites’ only way to preserve their global dominance is through military might. Their Five Eyes apparatus has repeatedly used terrorism as a pretext for foreign military actions and domestic police-state laws, which have increased its power over elected governments. Any Australian, British, Canadian, New Zealand, or US government that challenges the Five Eyes permanent war agenda would suffer a coordinated counterattack by intelligence agencies—as Donald Trump has for seeking better relations with Russia.

This agenda must be exposed and defeated, and those complicit in terrorism, including the Crown, must be held to account.
