CEC election slate: Build a real future for Australia!

Today the Citizens Electoral Council announced the filing of its Senate and House of Representative candidates with the Australian Electoral Commission, giving Australians in every state and the Northern Territory the opportunity to vote for the CEC’s platform of peace through economic development.

Following the close of nominations yesterday, CEC leader Craig Isherwood remarked that Australians have never lived in a period of greater uncertainty. “We face the prospect of a new global financial crisis, with the Too Big To Fail problem remaining unresolved since 2008, and outside of the CEC’s Glass-Steagall bank separation remedy, the only official suggestion to deal with it is the ‘bail-in’ strategy—that is, stealing people’s deposits to rescue banks! We also face the threat of a third world war against Russia or China, which would assuredly be thermonuclear. Australia has made itself a target by refusing to question the actions of our Anglo-American allies, and particularly as part of US President Barack Obama’s Pivot to Asia.

“Both of these crises can be solved, however, by forging partnerships for economic development among nations, such as China and the other BRICS nations (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) have been building”, Isherwood continued. “We are finally seeing the beginnings of support for this orientation here in Australia, with business circles starting to promote mutually beneficial cooperation between Australia and China in China’s One Belt, One Road (OBOR) strategy, which will link nations together across land and ocean with grand development projects.

“If we revive our nation with economic development and growth, facilitated by national banking like that of the old government-owned Commonwealth Bank, and return our productive industries to health by reversing the deregulation and privatisation enacted since the Hawke-Keating era, relatively minor challenges such as budget shortages and taxation will be solved”, Isherwood stated. “Together with reining in the banks’ speculative practices and getting the housing bubble under control—which is easy to do with Glass-Steagall banking regulations prohibiting deposit-taking banks from gambling and fuelling the bubble—our economy will again serve all Australian citizens rather than a select few.”

“It is crucial, however, to do more than just vote”, Isherwood urged. “Join the CEC in the fight for the principles of national sovereignty and the common good.”
