World leaders call for new economic paradigm at Schiller conference

The 30th anniversary conference of the international Schiller Institute 18-19 October was the occasion for over 350 people, including intellectual and political leaders representing every continent, to unanimously adopt a resolution calling upon great nations to work together with the emerging new economic power of the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa), to establish a just, new economic order.

The resolution reads:

Mankind Is the Only Creative Species!

Declaration of the Conference of the Schiller Institute, Oct. 19, 2014

“Mankind experiences presently a deep civilisational crisis, where the foundations of society in many parts of the world have eroded, and established codes of international relations have broken down. On top of this, we are faced with mortal dangers, each of which could lead to the potential extinction of the human species.

“There is first the Ebola pandemic, which is already out of control in Africa, for which there is no cure, and which is threatening to become more threatening than the Black Death of the 14th century.

“There is second, the terrorist threat for the whole world, and genocide spreading from the so-called IS Caliphate, not only demonstrating a subhuman barbarism, but explicitly threatening Russia and China, and therefore, becoming the potential trigger to blow up all of Southwest Asia and even leading to a new world war.

“And there is third, the absolute certainty that the completely bankrupt trans-Atlantic financial system is about to blow up, threatening also to throw much of the world into a Dark Age.

“In light of these three mortal dangers, it is a question of life and death of humanity to stop the immoral and imbecilic policies of geopolitics and confrontation against Russia and China. Instead, we have to shift the agenda to the common aims of mankind, and work together with Russia, China, India, and other nations, to defeat these mortal threats. We call on all forces of reason in Europe and the United States, to join the emerging new economic order of the BRICS and the New Silk Road. Let’s work to establish an inclusive peace order, with the participation of every nation on the planet, a peace order for the 21st century, worthy of mankind as the only known creative species in the universe. Let us grow up into the adult age of humanity, where love, creativity, and beauty define the values of our common human family.”

End Resolution

Prominent guests who addressed the conference and endorsed the resolution included Institute President and founder Helga Zepp-LaRouche; Prof. Shi Ze, China Institute of International Studies, Beijing; Dr. Fatemah Hashemi Rafsanjani, President of Women’s Solidarity Association, Teheran; Jayshree Sengupta, Senior Fellow, Observer Research Foundation, New Delhi; Dr. Natalia Vitrenko, economist, Chairwoman of the Progressive Socialist Party of Ukraine, Kiev; Ali Rastbeen, founder and President of Paris Academy of Geopolitics; Panos Kammenos, Chairman of Independent Greeks, Member of Hellenic Parliament, Athens; Ray McGovern, Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS), USA; Saeed Khatibzadeh, Institute of Political and International Studies (Iran), Head of IPIS Regional Office Berlin; Antonino Galloni, economist, Statutory Auditor of Istituto Nazionale Previdenza Sociale, Rome; and Prof. Dr. Wangsuo Wu, Dean of the School of Nuclear Science and Technology, Lanzhou University, China, among others.

Executive member of the Citizens Electoral Council, Robert Barwick, addressed the conference on the subject “Which Way Australia? To Hell with London and Wall Street, or to the Heavens with the BRICS?” (Click here to read or watch the speech.)

Greetings to the conference were received from Academician Mikhail Titarenko, Director of the Institute of Far East Studies, Russian Academy of Sciences, who said that “For many years, you and your Institute have been doing exceptionally important work to shape a new international economic order and improve the world climate.

“The projects of the Schiller Institute—particularly those related to the Economic Belt of the Great Silk Road, the railway bridge in Eurasia, and the rehabilitation of the world financial system—are testimony to your profound insight, scientific honesty, and genuine civic and human courage.”

Former Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser wrote, “I wish you well in your deliberations. We desperately need a more cooperative and more inclusive world.” He went on to describe the agenda that had pushed the world towards war and chaos, but concluded, “There is an option and that is for the most powerful Western nations to realise that there have been great changes in the world, that the strategic context has altered, that other powers such as the BRICS are emerging and that the West should collaborate with them as partners to establish a more equal and a more just world.”

Greetings were also read from the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (CSCLF), named for, and dedicated to continuing the life’s mission of, the widow of the founder of modern China, Dr Sun Yat Sen.
