Appeal to stop installed Ukrainian government from starting a civil war

A cross-section of Ukrainian political leaders have united to intervene in the rapidly-escalating crisis in their country, which is at a point of real danger of spiralling into a thermonuclear world war. Ukraine is being used as a tool in the British-Obama strategy of encircling Russia, to which end Anglo-American agencies directed the neo-Nazi street uprising which toppled Ukraine’s democratically-elected government in February. With the neo-Nazi street guerrillas from the organisation called Right Sector now entrenched in Ukraine’s new puppet government, there are plans to violently put down the pro-Russian protests in eastern Ukraine, which would spark civil war. This would raise the prospect of a Russian intervention, followed by a Western counter-intervention, and a series of back-and-forth escalations towards a nuclear showdown. The following Appeal details the truth of the situation in Ukraine that is being covered up by the major corporate media, which truth must be made public if the world is to avert a catastrophe.

“Stop the war of the self-proclaimed Ukrainian authorities against their own people!”

Appeal from Ukrainian political parties and public organisations to the UN Secretary-General, the President of the European Union, and the President of the Russian Federation

16/04/2014

To UN Secretary-General
Ban Ki Moon,

President of the European Union
Herman Van Rampuy,

and President of the Russian Federation
Vladimir Putin

Appeal
from Ukrainian political parties and public organisations
to the UN Secretary-General, the President of the European Union, and the President of the Russian Federation

“Stop the war of the self-proclaimed Ukrainian authorities against their own people!”

April 16, 2014

We, leaders of Ukrainian political parties and public organisations, urgently request that you take all measures necessary to stop the civil war in Ukraine, defend the civilian population of southeast Ukraine against political repression, humiliation, and physical elimination by illegal bands of ultraradicals, the National Guard that has been set up for punitive actions, and the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

We draw your attention to the fact that yesterday’s oppositionists, who proclaimed neo-Nazi slogans like “Ukraine for Ukrainians,” “Stab the Muscovites,” and “Glory to the nation—death to the enemies!” and held mass torch marches with Nazi insignia and portraits of Nazi collaborators Bandera and Shukhevych, have now become the government, as a result of a coup d’état. And now, as representatives of the government, they are continuing to talk about “the physical destruction of 8 million Russians,” shooting “separatists,” and so forth, in contradiction to the norms and principles of international law and the Constitution of Ukraine. Acting on a neo-Nazi attitude toward national minorities and the Russian-speaking population, as being ethnic groups that are hostile to the creation of a mono-ethnic state, the Acting President of Ukraine has decided to use the Armed Forces against civilians, violating the ban on this, stated in Article 17 of the Constitution of Ukraine.

We believe that the authorities in Ukraine are committing illegal acts, punishable by law, from the standpoint of the December 9, 1948 Genocide Convention, Article 3. The rights of citizens of Ukraine, guaranteed by the Constitution of Ukraine, the International Pact on Civil and Political Rights, the European Convention on the Defense of Human Rights and Basic Freedoms, the Universal Declaration on Human Rights, and the UN Charter, are being violated. The Russian-speaking population of southeastern Ukraine has been falsely labeled “separatists,” thus subverting its right to defend its rights and freedoms, dignity, life, and security against infringement by the neo-Nazis who have seized power.

We are convinced that demands to give the Russian language the status of an official language and to shift Ukraine to a federative form of organisation have nothing in common with separatism, but, on the contrary, are mechanisms for preserving Ukraine as a single, democratic state, providing justice and development for the southeastern regions within it.

Instead, a decision has been taken to use the Armed Forces of Ukraine—tanks, artillery, Grad rocket-launchers, airplanes, helicopters, and missiles—to kill the country’s people, covering these actions with propaganda lies about “separatism,” “terrorism,” and “Russian interference.”

In reality, the Ukrainian Army has already brought tanks and APCs into the Donbass. There are casualties. This is a war, declared against the country’s people.

We condemn it! Peaceful negotiations, consideration of the legitimate demands of the culturally Russian population, and a ban on neo-Nazi parties and movements is the pathway to a democratic resolution of the conflict. The “force” scenario is the pathway to a fratricidal war in Ukraine and the unleashing of a Third World War on the European continent.

We ask your immediate intervention for a solution to the crisis.

Respectfully,
