Rupert Murdoch—the Queen’s petticoat

Following the Rupert Murdoch-owned Herald Sun’s blatant censorship of the Citizens Electoral Council on Wednesday, CEC leader Craig Isherwood declared that Rupert Murdoch has the world’s smelliest job—covering the Queen’s butt.

Less than an hour after posting an article on its website quoting Craig Isherwood on the carbon tax, which quotes were taken from Mr Isherwood’s 5th April media release entitled “The Queen’s carbon tax is designed to kill”, the article was suddenly pulled, obviously after the intervention of people much higher up the Murdoch command structure.

Before censorship, the Herald Sun article read:

Anti-carbon tax group says poor people don't support the tax

UPDATE 8.24am: A CARBON tax is not supported by the poorest of our society, an anti-carbon tax group claims, despite a poll showing it has support of two-thirds of voters.

Two-thirds of voters say they support a carbon tax if all the revenue is spent on compensation for households and business, according to a new Galaxy Poll.

The poll of 1036 people to be released today was commissioned by the Greens and reveals surprisingly strong support for the model being negotiated by the Gillard Government, the Greens and independent MPs.

Women, families and higher-income earners were the strongest supporters.

But Citizens Electoral Council of Victoria secretary Craig Isherwood rebuked the study, saying low-income earners would suffer.

“Already now, pensioners are suffering hyperthermia and heat stroke and thousands have died because they can not afford to heat or cool their homes. These numbers will only skyrocket with such proposed energy cuts,” he said.

Mr Isherwood said the quality of living in Australia would drop if energy sources were not reliable.

“Consumers may get compensation for the carbon tax they pay, but they won’t get reliable electricity,” he said.

The poll, conducted a fortnight ago, found 66 per cent of voters in favour, 23 per cent were opposed and 10 per cent had no opinion.

People were asked if they supported or opposed a price on carbon that would tax the biggest polluting industries and return all the money to compensate households and business and provide investment in climate change schemes such as renewable energy.

Greens deputy leader Christine Milne said Galaxy's specific question showed people had seen through Tony Abbott's scare campaign.

“Australians clearly recognise that building a cleaner, healthier economy means we need to put a price on pollution and make clean, renewable energy cheaper rather than prop up the old polluting economy,” Senator Milne said.

Galaxy found 70 per cent of women supported the plan compared with 62 per cent of men and seven out of 10 people earning over $70,000 were in favour compared with just over six out of 10 people earning less than that amount.

In Victoria 64 per cent of people were in favour while 70 per cent of people with children backed it compared with 64 per cent support among those without.

It comes as the latest Newspoll shows support for Labor and the Greens has dropped since the carbon tax plan was announced in February. The Coalition holds a 55-45 per cent two-party lead over the ALP.

------------------------- end of Herald Sun article -------------------------

Mr Isherwood blasted the claim that 66 per cent of Australians supported a carbon tax:

“What lying garbage!” he exclaimed. “The Murdoch media is in cahoots with the Greens and the climate change hoaxsters, and all they do is lie. Australians don’t support the carbon tax—they hate it, just as they hated the ETS, because they know it will destroy them. The violent backlash from the Australian people on this issue cost both Malcolm Turnbull and Kevin Rudd their jobs. The media lie about that too: Rudd didn’t lose support because he dropped the ETS—the people turned on him because he tried to force it on them. And that intense hatred of this policy is even stronger now, as the NSW election shows—the people emphatically punished every political figure associated with climate change action.

“Murdoch’s job is to manipulate public opinion, on behalf of the Crown,” he said. “When the public reacts in a mass strike against the whole political system, because they recognise their interests have been betrayed by their political leaders, Murdoch moves to ensure the backlash doesn’t fundamentally change the system, but rather gets diverted into an impotent protest vote for the other side.

“In this case, he is protecting the Queen,” Mr Isherwood continued. “She’s the one who ordered all of the Commonwealth nations at CHOGM in 2009 to ‘lead’ the world on imposing genocidal actions, such as denying people reliable energy, to address a threat that isn’t real.

“Murdoch is trying to make sure the Australian people, who despise the whole climate change lie, and the idea of an ETS or carbon tax, only focus their rage on Gillard, so they swing back to vote for Tony Abbott and the Liberals—the opportunistic liars who had their own ETS/carbon tax proposal when they were in government.

“He’s afraid if the CEC gets any attention, the people will see the role of the Crown itself in dictating this genocide, and rise up and overthrow our British imperial oppressors, who aren’t just dictating a carbon tax, but also the destruction of our Murray-Darling Basin food bowl, the privatisation of our public assets, and the annihilation of our dairy, poultry, and fruit and vegie farmers through Coles, Woolworths and the ACCC.

“Murdoch’s hysteria shows the CEC is looming as a major threat,” he concluded. “If Australians want to win this fight, they should join us.
