Grain cartel stooge attacks CEC over single wheat desk

John Begg, the Secretary of the Australian [sic] Grain Exporters Association (AGEA), has flipped out at the CEC’s September 3rd Media Release, “Government sabotages family farmers, food security in AWB extortion”.

Begg squealed in an email on September 11th, “Your lousy showing in the WA state election endorses my contention that you are writing and talking complete and utter crap about agriculture—not even the National Party supports you.”

Begg’s AGEA is neither Australian, nor represents family farmers; instead it is a front for the biggest and most rapacious multinational grain cartels in the world, including the big three—Cargill, Bunge and Louis Dreyfus—as well as Glencore Grain, Noble Grain, and Toepfer International.

These cartels lined up the Australian Wheat Board for destruction, in order to seize control over the AWB’s 15 per cent share of the global export wheat trade; fronts like Begg's AGEA functioned as a propaganda battering ram to spread their lies of “competition”, which they have now achieved—individual family farmers at the mercy of multibillion dollar global grain traders.

But grain cartel stooge Begg does raise an interesting point regarding the CEC’s vote in the recent WA election. Putting aside the real possibility of vote fraud—which has happened before—and the usual media blackout, the relatively low vote for the CEC in the September 6th state election points to the real problem in WA and national politics. And that is typified by the fact that although hundreds and hundreds of individuals informed CEC State Secretary Jean Robinson and her campaign staff that they absolutely loved the CEC’s policies, and that those policies were far better than the disastrous crap pushed by the “major parties”, nonetheless “I’m going to preference you second”, to vote for the “lesser evil”, because the CEC “isn’t big enough”, “is not credible enough”, etc. Yet, all of those same parties—those “lesser evils”—have rammed free trade down the throats of Australians for the last quarter century, and that emphatically includes the Nationals as well as the ALP and the Liberal Party. And it is British imperial free trade in all of its manifestations, including deregulation, privatisation, “competition policy”, etc. etc., which has destroyed our national economy. Whether or not the Nationals have grumbled against the break-up of the single desk, or taken some other ostensible “pro-rural sector” policy here or there is irrelevant; it is like slashing someone’s artery and then kindly handing them a band-aid: the Nationals have relentlessly pushed the entire free trade agenda which has led, inevitably, to also wiping out the single desk, among numerous other disasters.

The evidence over several decades is overwhelming: each and all of these parties have voted to destroy the Australian economy—in particular its rural economy—through free trade.

It is therefore not the grain cartels alone which have wiped out Australian agriculture, turned many of WA’s country towns into virtual graveyards, and driven many of your neighbours to commit suicide. If you voted for any of the “majors” (including the fanatically anti-development Greens) didn’t you do your bit as well?
