Mining tycoon Ross Garnaut has delivered his latest advice to the Rudd government on climate change, which calls for a 10 percent cut in CO₂ emissions by 2020; far from being a “compromise” with industry, as the most rabid environmentalists are charging, Professor “Guano’s” advice will destroy Australian industry, and set us on the path to achieving the fantasy of leading genocidalist greenies like Bertrand Russell and H.G. Wells, and their modern disciples in Prince Philip, Maurice Strong, Tim Flannery et al., to depopulate the world.

Guano calls Australia to join a global agreement to stabilise greenhouse gas concentrations to no higher than 550 parts per million carbon dioxide equivalent (equivalent, -e, meaning CO₂ levels plus other “greenhouse” gases like methane etc).

The notion of a “global agreement” is pure fiction. Two of the biggest world powers—China and India, have made it quite clear they won’t be bullied into such an economically ruinous scheme. The Indian Prime Minister’s Council on Climate Change did an extensive analysis on India’s climate and concluded: “No firm link between the documented changes described below and warming due to anthropogenic climate change has yet been established.”

Guano says today’s “greenhouse gas” level is at 455 CO₂-e ppm and we should ultimately be looking to achieve a goal of 400 ppm, which will require “technologies that can remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.” (Rumour has it that Guano is attempting to genetically engineer reverse farting cows, and he is investigating ways to extract absorbed sunrays from icebergs.)

The reality is that the Earth’s atmosphere today contains a minuscule 380 ppm CO₂ (0.038%). Compared to former geologic times, our present atmosphere is CO₂ impoverished! In the last 600 million years of Earth’s history, only the Carboniferous Period (approximately 300 million years ago) and our present age, the Quaternary Period, have witnessed CO₂ levels of less than 400 ppm.

The dinosaurs survived just fine when carbon dioxide levels exceeded 2,000 ppm during the Jurassic Period. Moreover, 450 million years ago at the end of the Ordovician Period, the earth went into an Ice Age when carbon dioxide levels exceeded 4,000 ppm!

More carbon dioxide should actually be welcomed to enhance plant growth. However, unfortunately our meagre industrial emissions will do little on this front, and besides, we need to move towards clean and efficient nuclear power—which Guano has ruled out. No surprise here—Guano and his fellow economic hit men are only working to enslave us—the environment is just a cover story.

Scientists observing sunspot cycles clearly identify that we are entering a cooling period, which will result in lower atmospheric carbon dioxide levels no matter how much we crank up our industry. This is because when the Earth cools, as has consistently occurred throughout geological history, the oceans will absorb vast quantities of atmospheric carbon dioxide. The 40,000 Gt C (gigatonnes of carbon) stored in the ocean dwarfs the 750 Gt C in the atmosphere which inturn dwarfs mankind’s annual 7 Gt contribution. And the oceans will easily absorb our extra puff in the wind.

More to the point, like clockwork, in a 100,000-year cycle, our pleasantly warm interglacial period is nearly at an end. This glacial freeze is actually the climate change problem that will be of most concern to future generations.
