Is the takeover of Syrian opposition by Salafist terrorists complete?
September 26, 2013 • 6:55PM

According to Aron Lund of Syria Comment, Abdelaziz Salame, the highest political leader of the Tawhid Brigade, a terrorist group based in Aleppo and a part of the Syrian Islamic Liberation Front (SILF), has issued a statement online where he claims to speak for 13 different rebel factions. The statement, whose existence is widely reported in major media, has four points, and according to Lund's summary, it says all military and civilian forces should unify their ranks in an Islamic framework which is based on 'the rule of sharia and making it the sole source of legislation.'

Lund claims that if the statement proves to accurately represent the groups mentioned, it means the rebellion of a large part of the mainstream Friends of Syrian Army (FSA) against its purported political leadership, and open alignment of these factions with more hardline Islamist forces. That means that all of these groups now formally state that they do not recognize the opposition leadership that has been molded and promoted by the USA, Turkey, France, Great Britain, other EU countries, Qatar, and especially, as of late Saudi Arabia, Lund says.

Lund points out that Mohammed Alloush of the Islam Brigade (led by his relative, Mohammed Zahran Alloush, who is reportedly under control of the Saudi intell chief Bandar bin-Sultan and has been accused by some for bringing in home-made chemical weapons from Saudi Arabia for use in the suburbs of Damascus) is also a leading figure in the SILF alliance. Mohammad Alloush tweeted a list of complaints against the National Coalition, including the fact that its members are all, he says, appointed, i.e. by foreign powers. He also opposed its planned negotiations with the regime. This may have been in reference to a (widely misinterpreted) recent statement by the National Coalition president Ahmed Jarba, which erroneously implied he was prepared to go to Geneva without an agreement that Assad would be out.

What this also means is that the fig leaf of democratic opposition and 'Right to Protect' Doctrine, so assiduously kept in place by the Barack Obama-Susan Rice-Samantha Power trio to cover up the truth, has turned out to be a patent lie. From the very outset, opposition to the Syrian regime was led by the Salafi-Sunni Jihadis whose prime objective was to remove the close-to-Shia-Alawite sect, to which al-Assad belongs, from power, undermine Iranian influence in Syria, and put Syria under the Saudi-Qatari run Salafi-Wahaabi control.
