Snowden Revelations Have Just Begun

The devastating revelations by former CIA and NSA contractor Edward Snowden have just begun, according to senior U.S. intelligence sources familiar with the case. These reports conform with statements made by Guardian writer and civil libertarian Glenn Greenwald, whose 12-minute interview with Snowden in a Hong Kong hotel last week indicated that there were many more revelations to follow. In fact, sources indicate that other whistle blowers have also come forward with further evidence that the Bush and Obama administrations have been illegally spying on innocent American citizens for years — and have repeatedly lied to Congressional investigators when asked about the illegal surveillance programs.

According to one source, President Obama really put his foot in his mouth when he came out in a press conference immediately after the Guardian and Washington Post revealed the Prism mass surveillance program, by claiming that the snooping was legal, and had been fully briefed to Congress and the relevant Federal courts. Obama was lying, and this infuriated Congressional leaders on the relevant intelligence oversight committees, who were never given a clear picture of the programs. The further dilemma that the White House faces is that they do not know how much more documentation of the secret spy programs has been already leaked to reporters and could be released to the public at any moment.

According to news reports on Tuesday, there are as many as 1.4 million Federal government contractors who have the same level of security clearances as Snowden.

One highly-placed U.S. intelligence official told EIR that it is essential to grid out the entire sequence of scandals that have blown up in Obama's face over the past month to appreciate just how vulnerable the President is to impeachment. As the result of the scandals — regardless of whether or not Congress has the guts to bring him to justice for his crimes against the Constitution — almost all of the President's top aides, from newly appointed National Security Advisor Dr. Susan Rice to Attorney General Eric Holder to DNI James Clapper, are thoroughly discredited as liars who can never be trusted again.

Lyndon LaRouche today warned that the greatest danger in this unfolding series of scandals is that Nerobama will bring the world to the brink of thermonuclear war out of desperation. LaRouche emphasized that the situation in and around Syria has reached such a hair-trigger point that almost any act of escalation can bring on general war. Regardless of whether or not anyone in power is so insane as to willfully attempt to start World War III, the preconditions are there for any small provocation to be the spark. The Eastern Mediterranean region today is in the same condition as the Balkan region was in the summer of 1914 on the eve of World War I.

According to sources close to the Obama White House, the President has already decided on an escalation of direct U.S. involvement in the Syria debacle, whether by overtly arming the Syrian rebels or by creating a no-fly zone, which is an act of war. LaRouche emphasized, in response to this report, that Obama must be removed from office now or else the world will be faced with the prospect of mass extinction.
