More details have emerged from the parents and other relatives of the two accused Boston Marathon bombers since the killing of Tamerlan Tsarnaev and the capturing of his younger brother Dzokhar, putting even more of a spotlight on the FBI's relationship with the elder brother.

Although the Russian government officially alerted the FBI about Tamerlan Tsarnaev sometime in 2011 and requested an FBI interview, family members of the brothers reported in detail to CNN and other news outlets that the FBI had been tracking Tamerlan for 3-5 years. The mother, Zubeidat Tsarnaeva, told CNN that "Tamerlan got involved in religion five years ago. He was monitored by the FBI for five years. They knew what my son was doing. They were following every step of his." She elaborated in remarks to Russia Today, "They knew what he was doing, what sites he was visiting. They followed his every move, yet today they say this is a terrorist act. The FBI was afraid of my eldest son because he was a leader, could stand up for himself, and talked about Islam alot. Once they officially called me and told me that they don't doubt his decency. But at the same time they said he gets information from extremist sites and that they are very afraid of him."

The father, Anzor Tsarnaev told RIA-Novosti, "I heard myself that they (the FBI) said: 'We know what you read, what you drink, what you eat, where you go.' And then they added that that's routine practice to prevent bombings on the streets of Boston, so that our kids can go to school in peace. This conversation happened half a year ago. But I keep asking, why did they have to talk to him about that then?"

The Russian government contacted the FBI in 2011 and got no serious feedback, since the FBI claimed they found no links to any radical Jihadist networks. Tamerlan Tsarnaev went to Russia in January 2012 and remained in Russia until July 2012. One of his uncles told American media that, during his visit to Russia, he came under the influence of a "mentor" who was an Armenian Muslim.

Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Tex.), Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, has vowed to get answers from the FBI about their relationship with the elder Tsarnaev. And Gen. James Clapper, the Director of National Intelligence, announced on Friday that he would be conducting a full interagency review of all intelligence and law enforcement data bases, to thoroughly search for any evidence of international links of the two alleged bombers. While the initial focus of the review is centered on the Caucasus and Central Asia, the probe will be global in scope.

Senior U.S. intelligence sources emphasized on Saturday that the role of the FBI is of particular significance. It is clear that the Russian intelligence services had good reason to alert the Bureau about the activities of Tamerlan Tsarnaev, and the FBI, at minimum, badly screwed up. It should be recalled that the two west coast 9/11 hijackers—the first to arrive in the United States—were living in the home of an FBI informant in San Diego for months. Not only did the FBI do nothing with the information they obviously got from their informant. They ran a vicious coverup of the whole San Diego cell, including the funding from Saudi Ambassador (now, head of Saudi Arabia's General Intelligence Directorate) Prince Bandar bin-Sultan. It is imperative, the sources emphasized, that the FBI not be allowed to run another coverup as in 9/11. It is for this added reason that it is imperative that the 28-page segment of the Congressional 9/11 report be declassified in full.

FBI Director Mueller, who was Assistant United States Attorney in Boston under William Weld at the time of the Boston LaRouche railroad trial, is scheduled to retire as FBI director later this year. President Obama extended his ten year term by another two years, but he cannot extend it any further. EIR will continue to assemble all of the elements of the Boston profile. In the past 24 hours, as Lyndon LaRouche emphasized in his Saturday discussion with colleagues, the character of the Boston Marathon bombing and aftermath has changed fundamentally, with the new revalations. The picture, however, is still incomplete.

Ruslan Tsarni, an uncle of Tamerlan Tsarnaev, says that his nephew had fallen under the spell of a mysterious religious leader in Cambridge, Massachusetts, "who had been sort of brainwashing him," and who had radicalized Tamerlan and his brother Dzhokhar into committing Monday's terror bombing. 'I strongly believe they were just puppets and executors of something of bigger scale,' Tsarni said on NBC's "Today" show on Saturday.

Tsarni said that a family acquaintance told him there was an outside influence on Tamerlan. "He said there is someone who brainwashed him, some new convert to Islam," Tsarni said.

Tsarni went on to say that he had become concerned about Tamerlan when Tamerlan told him in a 2009 phone conversation that he had chosen "God's business" over work or school. Tsarni said he then contacted a family friend, who told him Tamerlan had been influenced by a recent convert to Islam. "There certainly were mentors," Tsarni said to the Today show. "I was shocked when I heard his words, his phrases, when every other word he starts sticking in words of God. I question what he's doing for work, [and] he claimed he would just put everything in the will of God."
