Obama Sends the Marines to Australia to Counter China
November 17, 2011 • 8:52AM

The Obama war plan against China gathered steam today as Obama deployed the Marines to Australia.

Obama and Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard on Wednesday announced the deployment of 2500 Marines to an Australian military base called Bradshaw Field Training Area (which is the size of Belgium) near Darwin, 500 miles from Indonesia, with direct access to the East Asian seaways and the Indian Ocean. Miitary sources noted that the base (while not being called a base) was permanent; would allow pre - positioning of US supplies; would include regular deployments of warships, including nuclear carriers, and aircraft, including B52 bombers, F18s, C130s and Global Hawk drones; and was "out of reach" of most Chinese missiles, unlike Guam and Okinawa.

Nerobama said: "With my visit to the region I am making it clear that the United States is stepping up its commitment to the entire Asia-Pacific region."

Nor did he hide his threat to China, adding: "The notion that we fear China is mistaken. With their rise comes increased responsibilities. It's important for them to play by the rules [sic] of the world." "My world," he could have added.

Australian Defence Minister Kim Beazley said: "The Chinese have gotten used to the fact that Australia and the United States have a very close military relationship. They expect nothing different." China responded otherwise.

A Global Times (official paper of the CCP) editorial today said: "Apparently, Australia aspires to a situation where it maximizes political and security benefits from its alliance with the U.S. while gaining the greatest economic interests from China. However, Gillard may be ignoring something — their economic cooperation with China does not pose any threat to the US, whereas the Australia-US military alliance serves to counter China. Australia surely cannot play China for a fool. It is impossible for China to remain detached no matter what Australia does to undermine its security. There is real worry in the Chinese society concerning Australia's acceptance of an increased US military presence....

"The US military presence in Australia will not change matters in the short-term. It remains to be seen how Australia will behave in the future and how China is going to respond. But one thing is certain — if Australia uses its military bases to help the US harm Chinese interests, then Australia itself will be caught in the crossfire. Australia should at least prevent things from growing out of control."
