London Economist Praises Obama's Commitment to Death Panels September 11, 2009 (LPAC)—Amid all the sophistry, lies and posturing in President Barack Obama's address on health care Wednesday night, his call for a Nazi-like panel of "experts" to make life and death decisions on drastic cuts in medical care—which some have referred to as a "death panel"—came across loud and clear. And it drew special praise from the flagship publication of the British Monarchy's financial interests, the London Economist.
After endorsing Obama's lying, rhetorical flourishes against those who "have made nonsensical but alarming claims that his reforms will lead to 'death panels' and other travesties," the Economist proceeded to endorse precisely that policy, without even blinking, just as Obama had done the night before. Listing the points that indicated his commitment to their policy, the Economist wrote: "The first is the White House's support for empowering an independent panel of experts to cut costs in Medicare and other government health schemes. This matters, because Congress has shown it is incapable of making such difficult cuts."
