More Uproar at Town Hall Meetings Against Obama Nazi "Reform" of Health Care

August 19, 2009 (LPAC)—The town hall meetings taking place around the United States over the past 36 hours—mostly on the Obama Nazi health care "reform," but whatever their nominal topic—continue to manifest the uproar in the population against the White House and Congress. At the 30 scheduled meetings in 15 states, most of them are reporting "overflow" crowds, rambunctious discussions, and citizenry mad as hell. In many states, Congressmen remain in hiding, or even become no-shows at their own pre-scheduled meeting! Dozens are resorting to "telephone" conferencing. The following are a few initial reports:

EASTERN STATES

* VIRGINIA. A crowd of 1,200 people showed up in droves, to pack the auditorium by 9 a.m. Tuesday morning at a community college in Dublin, for the health care town hall meeting of Rep. Rick Boucher (D). Southwest of Roanoke, this is a region of local colleges and coal mines. The "rowdy...raucous" meeting went on for 3 hours. The local TV described it: "Passionate divides on health care reform could be seen in the form of signs, cheers, chants and outbursts." Boucher is a supporter of go-slow "reform," and met up with opposition of all kinds.

Rep. Tom Perriello (D-VA) is continuing a series of 20 town meetings in the far south central part of Virginia, where hundreds of people are showing up. At the Aug. 18 meeting, an ABC affiliate showed the scene inside the "packed town meeting" in the Charlotte, Va. City Council chambers, where a standing-room-only crowd of mostly older seniors was asking intense questions. "There have been no shouting matches—so far," said the reporter, but noted that "everybody is very concerned" about rising insurance costs. Citizens told Perriello, don't rush the timetable, and demanded to know will he support health coverage for all. The reporter said some of these meeting have been going for FOUR HOURS. This one only is supposed to be for 2 hours, but there was a long line of questioners still remaining well into the 2nd hour. Last night, Perriello's meeting in Fluvanna County/Albemarle drew hundreds, according to press.

In MASSACHUSETTS and NEW JERSEY, it seems that Congress has gone into hiding or is about to go under cover:

Where Is Barney Google...?

He has not scheduled town hall meetings, saying he has already heard a lot from his constituents! But on Aug. 14, he issued a statement saying he might appear at other community meetings if they invite him. E.g., Tuesday night in Southeastern Massachusetts, the Dartmouth Town Committee invited him, and he said he would come, but then the details got vague. Lots of call-ins started. The organizers moved the venue. No one was sure where it was. No report as of 9 PM, but the radio this afternoon, in giving updates, said Dartmouth Dem Party officials were "fielding calls from as far as Martha's Vineyard, Boston and Western Massachusetts..."

Meanwhile, Rep. Niki Tzongas was scheduled to appear in Lawrence—a heavily Hispanic area—at 6 p.m., but on the LYM evening briefing call, Boston reported that while there was a crowd there to meet Niki, she was a no-show! One person had his E.Z. Kill Emanuel quotes all ready to use. Another had a bumper sticker for such meetings, "Just Remember: Vote Them Out in November!"

In New Jersey, the hiding is being openly announced. Rep. Leonard Lance (R-NJ) is one of the few venturing out, but even a calendar posting on the Republican-leaning Newsmax, warned about his Aug. 18 meeting in Summit, N.J., "As a precaution, I would advise you to check his offices for verification."

Most Democrats are hiding under the bed—including Rep. Robert Andrew, Rep. Donald Payne, Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. and Senators Robert Menendez and Frank Lautenberg—and have scheduled "teleconferences" instead.

New Jersey's largest newspaper, the Star-Ledger reports: "Deluged with pointed questions over the health care overhaul proposed in Washington, D.C., much of the state's congressional delegation has replaced or supplemented traditional town hall meetings with teleconferences .... [TELECONFERENCES] STAMP OUT THE POSSIBILITY OF FIERY CONFRONTATIONS...."

SOUTH AND CENTRAL STATES

ALABAMA. Over 2,000 people turned out for 4 meetings in the Mobile area Monday, held by Rep. Jo Bonner (R). At the first meeting of the day, when 500 showed up, police closed the parking lot, only to have constituents fan out and line residential streets with their vehicles. Bonner said that he usually gets 17 persons at that meeting place (Tillman's Corner Community Center) and the most ever was 40. Bonner had three more meetings on Tuesday.

TEXAS. Rep. Joe Barton (R) meeting in Marquez, the Brazos Valley, was standing-room-only last night.

WISCONSIN. Rep. Ron Kind's (D) meeting in Richland Center drew "hundreds", according to first media reports, which also carried his blather about cutting costs, and upping "value" in care.

IOWA. Rep. Tom Latham (R) had a crowd of over 100 (big for the time and place) show up at an afternoon meeting in Indianola, at which he reportedly stuck tight to the B.S. about pro-or-con public option/co-ops, etc.

WESTERN STATES

COLORADO. At the daytime meeting of Rep. Doug Lamborn (R) on Tuesday, "a crowd of about 200 overflowed the Woodland Park City Council chambers," according to the local Gazette newspaper which was posting updates real time during the session. Lamborn himself is trying to ride the crest of public anger, by listing his low-life "concerns" about not changing health care for the sake of "immigrants" and non-insured.

IN CALIFORNIA, Rep. Dan Lungren (R) is holding an evening meeting in Citrus Heights.
