White House Flight Forward to Defend Crumbling Nazi Health Plan

August 17, 2009 (LPAC)—The Obama White House and its allies are on a full offensive, trying to defend their Nazi healthcare drive, which is going down in flames. Some examples:

* Ezekiel Emanuel is interviewed by the Washington Post's Ezra Klein, defending his past statements advocating rationing of healthcare, and arguing that these questions still need to be confronted.

"Fifteen years ago, I thought that cost growth meant we would have to confront the rationing question," Dr. E-Z-Kill said. "But the more I studied it, the less I think rationing of health care is the key question. The bigger question seems to be improving the quality and efficiency of the system. We have a lot of unnecessary care. The big issue here is how to redesign the healthcare delivery system so we're doing the appropriate data- driven care that we know will improve someone's life and not doing unnecessary, and potentially harmful, care."

"I think we have so much unnecessary care that's not improving quality of life or length of life, that our first order of business is to get rid of that."

* The New York Times opens its pages to Obama himself for an op-ed, in which Obama reiterated his current poll-driven emphasis on criticizing the insurance companies, while emphasizing cost control: "We'll cut hundreds of billions of dollars in waste and inefficiency in federal health programs like Medicare and Medicaid and in unwanted subsidies to insurance companies...."

* Richard Thaler, one of the White House's behaviorist kooks, argues in the New York Times business section that Democrats should either give up the "public option," or make sure there are enough regulations so that it doesn't have any teeth. "A public option is neither necessary nor sufficient for achieving the real goals of reform, and those goals are too important to risk losing the war," Thaler contends.
