Dems Oppose Obama Health Policy in House Energy and Commerce Committee

July 17, 2009 (LPAC)—At today's hearing on Obama's fascist health policy in the House Energy and Commerce Committee, not only Republicans, but also several Democrats voiced their opposition to the Obama health policy. On Wednesday, the day before, U.S. Rep. Mike Ross, D-Ark., the leader of the House Democratic Blue Dogs, said the plan is losing support and will be stuck in committee unless changed. "Last time I checked, it takes seven Democrats to stop a bill in the Energy and Commerce Committee, Ross told reporters. "We had seven against it last Friday; we have 10 today."

During the hearings on Thursday, besides the Democratic Blue Dogs who opposed the Obama plan, two other Democrats expressed opposition. The most important of these was Bart Stupak (D-Mich.) Stupak explicitly stated that his opposition was triggered by the rewriting of the bill at midnight the night before, so as to include the Obama-demanded addition of a Health Care Czar to head a Health Care Commission which would dictate cuts in medicare payments for the elderly. Stupak stated that the establishment of a Health Care Czar with unlimited, unchecked powers, puts "the sanctity of life at stake."
