Brit Says UK May Have over 100,000 New Flu Cases a Day by August

July 3, 2009— "Cases are doubling every week, and on this trend we could see over 100,000 [swine flu] cases per day by the end of August," British Health Secretary Andy Burnham told the House of Commons on Thursday.

This is the same Burnham who earlier covered up the spread of the new flu in Britian, and enraged experts in the World Health Organization and elsewhere for lying about the number of cases and rates of spread.

Burnham's extrapolation of rates has no particular scientific validity; however, it is not impossible that the forecast may prove true. Britain is the hardest-hit nation in Europe, according to some reports. The doubling rate reported by Burnham, if true, is alarming in itself, even if it does not hold for the rest of the Summer. Whether Burnham is trying to get ahead of the curve, after his past failure in dealing with the disease, or there are other motives, remains to be seen.

Therefore, stay alert, be prepared, but never trust a British government official on the subject of Prince Philip's flu.
